Yolland approached the restoration of the historic manor with a deep respect for the building’s architectural integrity, working closely with our collaborators to create interiors that feel both timeless and deeply connected to place.
The project was guided by a shared belief in restraint, allowing the beauty of the existing structure to lead, while introducing a softer, contemporary sensibility through materiality, atmosphere and detail.
Yolland focused on creating continuity, balancing the weight and permanence of the architecture with a palette of muted limewashed tones, natural linens, oak, iron and layered textures that bring warmth and calm to each space.
Together with our collaborators, the design centred on creating a sense of quiet immersion. Furniture and lighting were selected with an emphasis on simplicity, sculptural form and tactility, allowing the interiors to feel refined without becoming overly decorative. Every element was considered in relation to light, proportion and atmosphere, creating spaces that evolve gently throughout the day.
A key part of the project was establishing a natural rhythm between intimacy and scale. Expansive communal rooms were softened through texture and tonal layering, while private spaces were approached with a more pared back sensibility, creating moments of stillness and retreat within the larger architectural framework.
The result is a home that feels enduring rather than styled, one that honours the history of the manor while quietly aligning it with contemporary living. Through a close and collaborative process, Yolland and our collaborators created an environment defined not by excess, but by material honesty, balance and a lasting sense of calm.
